These are some significant events in the history of the Double Luck. The events are listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent events at the top of the list.

31 December, 2001
New Year's eve is celebrated at the Double Luck with a small group of friends.

25 December, 2001
Christmas is not spent at the Double Luck this year.

22 November, 2001
We spend our first Thanksgiving at the Double Luck.

13 October, 2001
A party at the Double Luck celebrates an open house, house warming, a belated 25th Anniversary, and a birthday for Marsha . Not to mention Oktoberfest! Mass quantities of barbeque and homebrew from the Double Luck Brewery are consumed.

18 September, 2001
The Perlick beer cooler in the Double Luck Brewery is reconnected, charged, and is cooling the beers that have been made.

The granite section containing the laser etched logo for the Double Luck is finally delivered and installed in the kitchen back splash above the stove.

5 August, 2001
On the first anniversary of the ground breaking celebration, the Double Luck Brewery begins operation at its new location!

Brewing equipment

With almost perfect timing, the new equipment for the Double Luck Brewery arrives! On the right, we can see the Perlick commercial beer cooler that we have been using for some time. The beautiful new equipment came from Beer, Beer, and More Beer, an online store that seems to sell anything and everything that a home brewer could want, from the simplest starter systems, to professional quality systems for the serious (and extravagant) brewer like me! In the center is the new brewing "sculpture" --- a steel stand holding the three stainless steel kettles, each with its own propane burner (not actually attached in this picture), to be used (from top to bottom) as the mash tun, boil kettle, and hot liquor tank. On the left is the new stainless steel conical fermenter. This is all the equipment one needs to make 10 gallon batches. Once all this is cleaned up and fully assembled, the Brewery will, at long last, be back in full operation!

13-16 July, 2001
Friday, 13 July, 2001
We close the construction loan for the Double Luck! It is now officially ours (with partial interest by the mortgage company). And so we spend our second night in the Double Luck Farm House! It is still a little like a camping trip, but at least it is a lot larger than the Double Luck Station, our home for the last eleven weeks.

Saturday, 14 July, 2001
A few items are moved in from the Double Luck Station, but this day is used to mow the lawn, and to allow the subcontractor to put the final finish onto the wood floors.

Sunday, 15 July, 2001
This is a serious moving day! Most of the furniture for the first floor is moved inside from the Double Luck Garage, and a large quantity of boxes are moved onto the back porch. The tedious unpacking process begins.

Monday, 16 July, 2001
The final moving day! The remainder of the furniture and boxes are moved inside from the Double Luck Garage. This does not mean that we are completely settled, but the worst of the moving is, at least, complete. Unpacking continues.

27 April, 2001

House in Sugar Land, Texas

We close the sale of the house in Sugar Land. It is not easy to leave something that has been a part of your life for over twenty-four years, but the time has come to take the big leap! We hope the new owners will enjoy it as much as we and wish them the best of luck in their new adventure. And so Marsha also now resides in the Double Luck Station, and our new adventure begins in earnest!

25 April, 2001

Garage full of furniture

Moving Day arrives! All of our stuff is picked up from the house in Sugar Land and moved into the Double Luck Garage. Larry officially takes up residence in the Double Luck Station.

13 April, 2001
We spend our first night in the Double Luck Farm House! It was like camping indoors. There were no lights, no running water, no toilets. But we had a nice air mattress and the air conditioning was on. We like to think of it as preparation for the big event. It is unlikely that the house will be completely ready on 25 April, but the movers will be delivering our furniture regardless of how ready it is. Some of it will be stored temporarily in the Double Luck Garage. We will become temporary residents of the Double Luck Station! But at least, we will finally be there!

7 April, 2001

Wildflowers

It is wildflower season once again in central Texas! This is a view of a field just north of the Double Luck on Meadow Bend Road. We do not have so many bluebonnets on the Double Luck itself this year. They prefer open fields like this, and maybe for there to be fewer construction vehicles. But we plan to encourage this sort of thing next spring!

20 March, 2001
There is a contract for the sale of the house in Sugar Land, scheduled for closure on 27 April 2001. In addition, the movers arrive on 25 April to pick up our belongings and carry them to the Double Luck. If nothing bends or breaks and if the creek don't rise, this will be the official move in date! Of course, if the creek rises enough to stop us from moving in, it will probably not matter all that much.

20 February, 2001
In a move of faith, the house in Sugar Land is listed for sale in the real estate market.

10 January, 2001
Larry and Marsha celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

1 January, 2001

Welcome to the third millennium! Our goal last year was to move into our new dream home by this date. While we did not meet that goal, we are close. We expect to move there within just a few more weeks.

Oh, and if you are confused, the year 2001 actually is the first year of the third millennium, so all of you who celebrated that event last year jumped the gun a bit. We hope you rung in the new millennium last night!
